Our Services

  • Edge-to-Edge quilting will be uniform across the quilt top. The quilting pattern will be repeated from the left side to the right side, and from top to bottom. The patterns range from simple to complex. In some, the repeating pattern is obvious and lends itself to the overall appeal; other patterns have multiple designs incorporated and it’s difficult to spot the repeat. I have hundreds of patterns to choose from including modern, traditional and thematic. The service includes consultation on choosing the pattern that suits your vision for the quilt. The cost for edge to edge quilting ranges from $0.02 to $0.04 per square inch of your quilt top. The cost is based on the complexity and density of the pattern.

  • Custom quilting incorporates different stitch designs on different parts of the quilt designed to accent specific parts of a quilt pattern. The quilting stitches are customized as opposed to using a standard repeating pattern. Custom quilting takes much longer to complete and more expertise to design and place the quilting stitches. Custom quilting will be accepted on a limited basis after a consultation on the quilting desired. The cost for custom quilting ranges from $0.07 to $0.10 per square inch of your quilt top.

  • Both the quilt top and the backing should be freshly ironed. Also square both the quilt top and backing and make sure your edges are even. If the quilt top has piecing along the edges, its nice to have that stay-stitched. Otherwise, some of the seams may come loose and not be firmly sewn down in the quilting process. If the back is pieced, make sure the seam is at least 5/8” wide and pressed open. If your top and backing are in great need of pressing and squaring the cost is $20 per hour.

  • The backing should be at least 4 inches longer than your quilt top on all sides; or put another way, at least 8 inches longer and 8 inches wider than your quilt top. A quilt that is 50”X70” will need to have backing that is 58”X78”. The backing should also be squared. When the backing is loaded onto the longarm rollers if the edge is not straight or square, then it could end up short on one of the sides or the bottom. I know how preparing the backing can feel like such a chore after putting in all the work on your quilt top. I can provide backing services such as sewing the backing together for you, squaring it or even sewing muslin strips to the edges if it is not quite long enough. These services are $20 per hour.

  • You can provide your own batting or you can purchase it from me. If you provide your own batting, please make sure that it is 3 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides, or at least 6 inches wider and 6 inches longer than your quilt top. A quilt that is 50”X70” will need to have backing that is 56”X76”.

  • I only use high quality quilting threads. I charge a small fee to cover the cost of thread and to allow me to always provide the color and weight of thread needed to complete your quilt.

  • I typically return quilts untrimmed. If you want me to trim the back and batting from your quilt top, the cost is $20 per hour.

  • Some people love sewing on the binding while others hate it! I can help with all of the binding, none of it or something in-between.

For the In-Between: Bring your prepared binding – at least 20 inches longer than the perimeter of your quilt – and I can sew it on the front of your quilt while it’s still on the longarm frame. This is a real timesaver for you and you won’t have to wrestle the quilt through your domestic machine.

All In Binding: After machine sewing your prepared binding to the front of your quilt, I will hand stitch it to the back.

I charge per linear inch for each of these services.

  • Do you have a project in mind, but don’t have the time or means to put it together? I can create quilt tops from a collection of antique quilt squares found in your grandmother’s belongings, T-Shirts from a collection of sports, concert or hobby participation, clothing left from a loved one who has passed on, or from a pattern and fabric of your choosing. The cost for each quilt is based on the piecing pattern, quilt size, fabric, etc. Contact me for a consultation on these projects.

  • Just because we aren’t geographically close doesn’t mean we can’t have a quilting relationship. We all use shipping services every day, and it works just as well for quilting projects. We can discuss your project on the phone or email, ship it to me and I will complete the quilting and any other services you want. Then I will ship your project back to you. You pay the shipping to get it to me and I will pay the return shipping on projects over $85. It’s as easy as that.
